I want to start off by expressing my respect for you and the Tailwind Labs team. Tailwind has completely changed the way that I craft websites and I'm excited for the opportunity to work with you as a Design Engineer.

Experience and Skills

Hey, I'm Ryan. I'm a 26 year old designer, developer, writer, and type enthusiast. I'm currently working at Freethink as a UX Engineer. I like thinking about component libraries, design systems, and microinteractions.

I'm also a co-founder of Spiritual Engineering, a design and development studio.

Before Freethink, I worked as a designer & engineer at Faculty, a cosmetics startup based in Brooklyn.

In 2019, I started an online community for type designers and creative coders called ECCO. We host workshops, crits, and collaborative design projects.

Why me?

I love a challenge, whether it’s an ambitious landing page, mind-bending animation, or unexpected interaction. Experimentation is at the center of my practice.

I’m also not afraid to learn a new tool to get the job done. Coming from the agency world, I’m used to wearing many hats. I'm eager to learn and grow with the team.

What I’m Excited About

What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to experiment, inspire, and teach others. Building out interesting UI experiments in Tailwind, writing about them, and displaying them with code examples is already something I do in my free time.

In my studio practice, I do a lot of thinking about scroll-driven animations and would love to dive deeper into its potential. To be able to work directly with the Tailwind team to bring these ideas and functional demos to millions of users is a dream of mine.

I’m also excited to work on larger projects like your Studio Template. I’ve done some work in this area as well, having developed a series of agency sites using Tailwind and Sanity that essentially re-skin the same content structure in unique ways.

As a graphic designer, I’m also very excited to design assets for social media and further develop the Tailwind brand.

As I said before, I really do think Tailwind is one of the greatest contributions to the frontend community. Your design-forward mission always stood out to me against the other popular frameworks.
